There a good guide on mage pets? | EverQuest Forums

Posted: (3 days ago) Dec 03, 2015  · Here's my completely unscientific guide, with absolutely no data to back it up. 1. Earth pet. Tankness: 100%, DPS: 50% + root, that causes the pet to take damage from stuff that would otherwise be snared and not attacking, thus costing more mana to keep it alive, reducing it's tankness to 80% in the real world. 2. Water pet. Tankness 80%, DPS 90%.

Pet Focuses - Paul Lynch

Posted: (6 days ago) Focuses for low level pets are only available for magicians, from the Najena/Temple of Solusek Ro quests. As low levels pass so fast, these can be ignored. They affect pets from spell level 4 to spell level 49. Focuses for pets 49-60 are rare drops from the Plane of Hate, Phinigel Autropos in Kedge Keep, and from a Plane of Sky quest.

The formula to determine this is advertised weapon damage x2 +1. So a 40dmg 44del 2h-Slash weapon would produce a pet that now hits for 81 dmg.
